2025 Grand Motoring Film Festival Heads Back to the Future
Cinema’s most iconic DeLorean headlines a red carpet evening of automotive films with world premieres and award winners.

The 2025 Grand Motoring Film Festival is kicking off the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance weekend with another banner lineup of automotive and cinematic works of art.  Combining static displays of some of the most iconic cars in cinema, and award-winning independent films from around the world, this year’s lineup promises a night of big screen excitement and inspiration at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. Tickets are now on sale for the event, held from 5-9:30 p.m. Friday, October 31st.

Along with the selection of short films, the evening will feature a juried awards show recognizing the year’s top films and a headliner film that celebrates the intersection of the automotive and cinema culture.  It all begins with a classic Hollywood-style red carpet reception with elevated food and cocktails served amid static displays of collector cars and cinematic vehicles, including the rare and iconic film-accurate DeLorean Time Machine.

Bringing automotive aficionados and film enthusiasts together to showcase and recognize the most outstanding work created by independent filmmakers, journalists, students, production companies and advertising agencies, the Grand Motoring Film Festival is uniquely positioned as North America’s premiere motoring film festival.  And you are invited to ride along.

Now entering our ninth year this iconic event is handing the keys to the most exciting up-and-coming filmmakers in the automotive world with its second juried awards program.

The Grand Motoring Film Festival kicks off Friday evening October 31st at Hilton Head Island’s world-class Arts Center of Coastal Carolina with our signature mix of red-carpet elegance and high-octane excitement.   A VIP Filmmaker reception featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and static displays of classic and collector cars starts off the event. When the curtain goes up attendees will enjoy a curated selection of fascinating motoring films, our awards program, and the headliner feature film.

Grand Motoring Film Festival finalists and winners will represent the best documentaries, web videos, brand films, TV shows and more, and entries across the landscape of automotive culture are invited to submit. If your work shares our love of horsepower, make plans to join us Oct. 31 on Hilton Head Island for high octane screenings and awards program!

Filmmaker Finalists will received two VIP Passes to festival events, plus those who attend the Showcase Event & Awards Program on Nov. 2nd will receive two general admission passes for the 2025 Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance Nov 1 & 2. These passes are non-transferable, must be picked up in person on site, and will not be sent by mail.

Judging
Films and videos will be reviewed by an esteemed group of judges representing film and television, automotive, and media industries with awards to be given out on October 31, 2024. Among judges announced so far, you’ll find luminaries like former editor and publisher of Autoweek Dutch Mandell, Pixar Animation Studios Creative Director of Franchise Jay Ward, “Death Race 2000” star Simone Griffeth, Silodrome.com founder and senior editor Ben Branch, Creative Director at Hearst Autos Tara Klein, and a noted automotive industry veteran Michael Harley.  

Awards and Prizes
The Grand Motoring Film Festival awards "best of" category awards in every category as well as additional honors at the discretion of the jury.

Categories List:
Documentary (Short/Feature)
Documentary film 39 minutes or less. Documentary film 40 minutes or longer in duration.

Narrative/Drama (Short/Feature)
Narrative short film 39 minutes or less.  Narrative feature film 40 minutes or longer in duration.

Brand / Image Film
This category is focused on agency or brand promotion films, marketing campaigns, produced and/or commissioned by an agency, company, or other entity for commercial use on web, television, or film. Any length runtime welcome.

Journalism & Factual Entertainment
Different from traditional documentaries, this category is for television news segments, YouTube vehicle reviews, 'reality' TV content, or similar. Any length runtime welcome.

Student Film
Shorter form films that focus on a short story centered around driving and cinematography of a car in motion. Duration of 6 minutes or less. 

Short Drive Film  (New for 2025)
Films produced as a project while an active student. Student ID required.

Best in Show (Will be selected from finalists)
