Popular annual motoring film festival announces featured film,
special guests as part of 5th annual edition.
Amelia’s Grand Motoring Hangar Night
AMELIA ISLAND, FL, APRIL 27, 2021 – Since its inception in 2017, the Grand Motoring Hangar Night has thrilled audiences with the breathtaking confluence of cinematic art and automotive excitement. This year, however, the festivities kick into high gear with a slew of special events throughout the evening.

As the southeast’s premiere source for automotive films, Grand Motoring has screened some legendary movies such as “Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman,” “The 24 Hour War” and “Steve McQueen: The Man and Le Mans.” This year’s featured film, shown alongside a series of acclaimed shorts, takes moviegoers inside the illegal, underground world of U.S. transcontinental racing with “APEX: The Secret Race Across America.”
Following thrill racers Alex Roy and Dave Maher as they tear across America in a BMW M5 in pursuit of a new coast-to-coast Cannonball record, and narrated by Ice-T, this film shines the spotlight on the secretive world of transcontinental racing.

Star Alex Roy will be on hand during this year’s Hangar Night to introduce the film and answer questions from the audience. “I’m really excited to share this film, and I think it’s going to be eye-opening for a lot of people who didn’t realize this whole culture of cross-country racing exists.”

But more than simply the films, Grand Motoring Hangar Night is an opportunity for participants to view some jaw-dropping collector and classic cars on display. This year, two separate rally tours will end with a checkered flag at Hangar Night, adding to an already exciting evening.

The first, Hagerty’s Amelia Island or Bust Tour, will end their multi-day rally at the event for the fifth consecutive year. Starting off outside of Baltimore on May 15, this rally will criss-cross the backroads of the southeastern U.S. before roaring into the finish line at Hangar Night.

The second rally is the Amelia Island region’s home-grown “Coastal Motoring Tour,” organized by Concours LLC. Launching from the legendary Brumos Collection, and running through some of the area’s most scenic highways and byways, the Coastal Motoring Tour will arrive just in time for Hangar Night.

“Every year we try to find some way to top the previous installment of Grand Motoring Hangar Night,” said organizer Guy Smith. “Already our fifth annual event is shaping up to the best ever, and we still have a few surprise announcements to make as we get closer to pulling back the curtain.”

Presenting sponsor for Grand Motoring Hangar Night will be long-time supporter of the event MonroneyLabels.com. Offering meticulous reproductions of original automobile window stickers, MonroneyLabels.com puts the power to research a used car in the hands of buyers and sellers. “We have been proud to support Grand Motoring Hangar Night since the very beginning,” said Ned Nielsen of MonroneyLabels.com. “We couldn’t think of a better way to salute the art of the automobile.”

In addition to inspired films, static displays and celebrations of automotive culture, guests at Grand Motoring Hangar Night will enjoy delicious cuisine prepared safely as well as stringent safety protocols, temperature checks and social distancing.

Returning film festival pleases movie buffs and auto enthusiasts alike with a slate of high- octane automotive films and displays on Thursday March 8 to rev-up the Amelia Concours weekend
AMELIA ISLAND, FL.  Last year, the Amelia Motoring Film Exhibition proved to be a smash hit, injecting some cinematic horsepower into Concours weekend. The 2018 installment looks to up the ante with a slew of films and shorts that celebrate the art of the automobile.

Presenting sponsor MonroneyLabels.com and Popcorn Octane Productions have assembled a cinematic tour de force with the 2018 installment. This year films include “Endurance Icon: Hurley Haywood” a short film that highlights the American racing legend and a few of the cars that helped catapult him, Peter Gregg, and Brumos Porsche into endurance racing fame. The feature presentation will be “No Limits – Impossible is Just a Word,” which takes viewers on an emotional journey alongside ex-Formula 1 driver, two-time Indy Car champion and Paralympic gold-medalist Alex Zanardi as he prepares for one of the most famous endurance races in the world: The 24 Hours of Spa.

“Creating this film festival has been a blast. There’s so much to celebrate when it comes to the art of the automobile and the culture that revolves around motoring, and so many fantastic films that embody that spirit,” said event organizer Guy Smith of Popcorn Octane Productions. “We were delighted at the response we received to last year’s event and can’t wait to top that excitement this year.”

Amelia Motoring Film Exhibition Debuts with Trio of Screenings

3/6/2017

By Kurt Ernst on Mar 6th, 2017 at 8:58 am in Hemmings
Amelia Motoring Film Exhibition
With auctions, seminars, tours, test drives and car shows leading up to the main event, there is no shortage of activities on Amelia Island in the days before Sunday's Concours d'Elegance, this year taking place on March 12. For 2017, thanks to Popcorn Octane Productions, there's one more event to pencil in: The Amelia Motoring Film Exhibition, taking place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, in downtown Fernandina Beach.

The event will feature a trio of films sure to appeal to hard-core driving enthusiasts. The first, Climb Dance, is a five-minute short that recaptures the excitement of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 1988 and 1989, when the majority of the “Race to the Clouds” took place on dirt and gravel, sans guard rails. Produced by Peugeot, directed by Jean Louis Mourney and recently remastered in high-definition, the sometimes heart-stopping clip has been described as “the benchmark for modern automotive filmmakers.”
Next up is The Red Grifo, a 20-minute film produced and directed by Guy Smith that recounts the impact of a Corvette-powered, Giugiaro-styled, Bizzarrini-designed Iso Grifo across generations of a family. Released in 2016, the critically acclaimed film (also from Popcorn Octane Productions) has been selected for screening at the 2016 London Motor Film Festival, the 2016 Charlotte Film Festival and the 2017 Beaufort International Film Festival.
Finally, the night is capped off by a screening of Adam Carolla’s 2016 documentary, The 24-Hour War, which tells the story of the epic battle between Ferrari and Ford at Le Mans in the mid-1960s. The opening salvo was fired by Enzo Ferrari, who, after being told he would not be in control of Ferrari’s racing efforts, walked away from an already-inked deal to sell his company to Henry Ford II. Enraged, Ford ordered his company to construct a car that would best Ferrari on one of racing’s grandest stages. The result was the Ford GT40, which would put an end to Ferrari’s long-standing dominance on the Circuit de la Sarthe, eventually becoming one of the most iconic endurance racing cars of the 20th century.
Other films may be added at the discretion of event organizers. The Amelia Motoring Film Exhibition will take place at the Amelia Community Theater, located at 207 Cedar Street in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The evening begins with a reception at 6:00, followed by the screenings at 7:00. Tickets are $20; for more information, or to purchase tickets, visit AmeliaMotoringFilmExhibition.com.
